This role is responsible for the safe operation of the simulation suites, immersive rooms and associated equipment and facilities within the CTA. The Simulation Suite Technician will ensure the smooth operation of simulation training, sim based activity within courses, and showcasing facilities during on site events, and providing technical and teaching support to guarantee a positive learning experience. You will assist the clinical education and events teams in technical support for sim-based learning of clinical skills. The candidate must be flexible to support some training and events outside standard hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
You will be supporting the Hospital & Care Simulation Suite and will work alongside the technician supporting the Dental Simulation Suite. These roles will work closely as a team and support each other in maintaining the sim labs, kit and simulated learning experiences.
How you’ll help us make health happen:
- Oversee and manage the safe and tidy operation of CTA simulation facilities.
- Support Clinical Educators by demonstrating and advising on using sim within clinical procedures, scenarios and assessments.
- Prepare and provide technical sim support for courses, training, and events, ensuring the simulation meets learning and course requirements.
- Oversee testing and repair of simulation equipment, liaising with suppliers and maintaining service records.
- Recommend improvements for simulation learning feasibility.
- Program simulations and manage and monitor sound / video facilities for reflection, debrief and feedback post simulation.
- Monitor and advise on Health and Safety compliance, including waste disposal and record maintenance.
- Maintain required documentation and provide evidence as needed.
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:
- Proven work experience in a relevant technical role acquired through working in a simulation suite
- Experience of working with students, with relevant teaching skills in clinical equipment, mannequins and software
- Experience in VR clinical training and working with Audio Visual
- Understanding of Health and Safety legislation and issues
- The ability to train staff and students on simulated clinical facility procedures and simulation equipment operation
- Excellent observational and clinical demonstration skills, with accuracy and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn, support, and collaborate with the CTA and wider team
