The Corinium Museum holds large and internationally significant collections of archaeology, social and rural history as well as running the Visitor Information Centre. We are looking for a Cleaner/Caretaker to join our friendly and professional team!
We are looking for someone who has a team orientated approach and is happy to get stuck in with cleaning, undertaking minor repairs, reporting defects and generally making sure the building is ready for public use daily. Knowledge and Understanding
- Good, all round, knowledge of buildings maintenance and safeguarding of premises.
- Good, all round knowledge of cleaning tasks including operating floor machines.
- General maintenance and repair skills including painting.

Hours:
Permanent part-time – 9 hours over 4 days
Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri mornings 8.45am – 11am
- Responsible for the cleaning of the hard floors in the museum using a floor machine
- Responsible for tidying the bin area and keeping it clean and the exterior bins locked
- Assisting the Schools and Families Officer with the preparation and dismantling of rooms for school workshops. Manual handling required
- Assisting the Visitor Operations Manager with the set-up of areas for various functions from the lecture theatre for talks to private hire events which could involve setting up furniture and laying out equipment. Note this post requires manual handling which will involve lifting/moving/setting up/packing away of furniture e.g. tables and chairs
- Inspect the interior & exterior of the building for general cleanliness on a daily basis. Occasional window cleaning at the front of the building and sweeping leaves and debris to the exit route at the rear of the building
- Clean the activities room, including sweeping, wiping tables, mopping the floor and emptying bins. This room is used as a school lunch room for much of the year
- Clean the back areas of the building at least once per week, including mopping floors and stairs and vacuuming stairs and offices
- Vacuum the lecture theatre, especially before events are due to take place. Occasional mopping required
- Clean the Winstone Learning Centre and empty kitchen bin if required – includes sweeping, wiping tables and kitchen surfaces and mopping floors
- Cleaning the pre-history gallery – sweeping and mopping floor, tidying roundhouse, cleaning exterior of glass cases
- Report any defects seen around the building
- Cover cleaning duties when the other cleaner is absent. This includes vacuuming, cleaning toilets and emptying bins from the staff kitchen
