Dorset Waste Services is looking for a Level 2, 7.5t LGV Driver to work at the Ferndown Depot. You will be working as part of a team on the cleansing service. To clean public areas and be responsible for maintaining standards of cleanliness for Dorset Council.
Previous experience of working in the waste/cleansing industry and good local knowledge will be an advantage.
What you will be doing
If you are looking for a driving role with variety, working on a 5 days in 7 rota including weekends, 7.5 hour shifts, are you physically fit and like working outdoors then this would be a great fit for you. We are looking for Drivers that have good understanding of Health and Safety. You must hold a minimum Category C1 driving licence have a current digital tachograph card and evidence of a completed Drivers CPC qualification is essential.
You will work 37 hours per week with early mornings, weekend and bank holiday working. Opportunity to work overtime is available. This position will require weekend working as part of a rota.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- a good understanding of health and safety with previous experience working in waste management
- experience of working to clearly defined schedules within prescribed criteria
- experience working in a customer-focused focussed environment
- knowledge and experience within a cleansing role
- knowledge of relevant standards and techniques
- working knowledge of driving-related vehicle maintenance
- good communication skills
- systematic and well organised
- ability to work on your own or as part of a team
- prepared to work in all weather conditions
- willingness to work out of hours in emergency circumstances
