While hospital experience is not essential, prior experience as a Cleaning Supervisor is required, along with a keen eye for detail, a drive to improve standards, and a commitment to learning and growing within the role.
Job Description
As an Assistant Cleaning Manager, you will provide leadership to support a positive workplace culture and improve the overall cleaning service.
You will work closely with the Cleaning Manager as part of the on-site management team to ensure standards are met and identify areas for improvement.
Key responsibilities include actively managing and overseeing cleaning supervisors, ensuring correct staff allocations, maintaining stock control, and ensuring the right number of staff are present on-site when required.
There will also be an element of budget control and spending oversight, which will be addressed in management meetings.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide direction, guidance, and support to all ISS staff and to ensure they are able to carry out their role effectively
• Manage the inventory and order supply, place cleaning orders for cleaning materials and equipment. Maintain the necessary supplies, equipment and cleaning products
• Oversee day to day running of the service, support supervisors, monitoring officer and management with operation and administration tasks. Continually monitor all cleaning standards, to ensure the expectations are met
• Complete all relevant documentation and maintain accurate records for company systems including, sickness procedures, quality Audit monitoring, training, and staff performance (PMS) monitoring
• Assist in the collation and completion of all Company reports and documentation in relation to the Services provided within the agreed timescales. (PMS)
• Control and monitor sickness levels on site and ensure that HR processes are followed in managing sickness and absenteeism
• Create, maintain and enhance effective working relationships with all major stakeholders (colleagues, patients, visitors and Trust Staff) in line with best practice, in order to ensure satisfaction with our service and to demonstrate commitment to our long-term presence within the Trust
• Manage and evaluate objectives and targets for the service as outlined in the business plan. Participate in the preparation of plans, budgets and forecasts
• Ensure that quality monitoring, activity reporting and performance monitoring is fully and properly implemented and maintained as per Company policy and procedure
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
• Working knowledge and understanding of Level 3 Health & Safety
• BICS qualification
• Working knowledge and understanding of Support Services in Healthcare (or comparable equivalent) at NVQ Level 2
• Customer Care Training
• Previous experience in managing or supervising within a service contract
• Sound knowledge of equipment and Health and Safety
• Previous experience in labour management
• Previous experience in financial accounting
• Experience of working with Trade Unions
