The Central Clearance Bureau (CCB) team is responsible for a variety of customs and compliance processes.
The role
As a Customs Agent you will need to be a quick learner, helping facilitate and maintain a fully compliant, effective, and efficient commercial Import & Export service within defined time frames. You will:
- Complete full and accurate submission/declarations to the appropriate customs regimes in line with customs &company policies and procedures.
- Accurately verify, enter, and update information into the relevant customs & company systems. Accuracy and attention to details are keys to the role as you will update and maintain all customs & company reports and records ensuring due diligence in all aspects of regulatory compliance.
- Provide a high level of internal and external customer care and ensure that all general Customs queries are acknowledged and satisfactorily resolved within the prescribed time scale.
- Working to HMRC requirements and timescales, you will ensure the timely recovery of incorrect Customs Clearance entries, reporting any discrepancies or deviations to regulatory requirements to your line manager.
Attendance: Monday to Friday, hours between 08:00 and 18:00 (four x 7 hours and one 7.5 hours)
About you
You need to demonstrate the following skills and experience on your application:
- Previous experience of a minimum 6 month of working in a commercial customs environment and an in-depth knowledge of transit documents preparation - this is a essential requirement.
- An aptitude to work with technology/computer systems, with sound knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel, Word, and Outlook and strong communication skills to communicate with confidence via e-mail.
- Drive and enthusiasm to thrive under pressure with the ability to work as part of a team and individually, and able to build good relationships with everyone you work with internally and externally.
- Strong knowledge of the pipeline, operational processes, and products and an understanding of import and export customs processes.
