Home Instead is looking for caring, kind, empathetic care assistants to support someone like an elderly relative, they forward to seeing the same care professional on each visit - you will become a friend, a confidant, someone to rely on and encourage them to remain as independent as possible.
We are different to other care providers because we don't do any visits of less than 1 hour, this gives you quality time with your client. No rushing, just doing required tasks and activities that your client would like to be completed.
Hourly rates that are above the minimum wage, along with Paid Mileage and Paid Travel Time to get you to and from your client: We believe in paying our staff fairly.
Industry Leading Training: Our training programs have been produced to ensure you have the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to excel in your role. Introductions and shadowing before going out on your own are a must, this ensures that you have confidence in knowing what the daily routine looks like. We NEVER throw you in at the deep end, we ensure you have been introduced to the client and have completed shadow visits with an experienced Care Professional before you are on your own, but that's only when you feel confident.
Care Certificate: Once you have completed your extended training you will receive an industry recognised Care Certificate. Further qualifications are available after your probationary period, we are here to develop and nurture your skills and dreams..
Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant to join our team in Darlington, United Kingdom. As a Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting elderly individuals and adults with various needs in their own homes, ensuring they maintain their independence and quality of life.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients
- Assist with personal care tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Help with mobility around the home, including safe transferring techniques
- Oversee medication administration and provide basic medical support as required
- Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning and tidying
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals according to dietary requirements
- Run errands, such as food shopping or collecting prescriptions
- Maintain accurate records
- Promote clients' independence and dignity at all times
Qualifications
- Compassionate and empathetic nature with a genuine desire to help others
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Physical stamina to assist with mobility and personal care tasks
- Patience and understanding when working with vulnerable individuals
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for accurate record-keeping
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends
- Valid UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
- Right to work in the UK
- Willingness to undergo a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
