48 hours 4 shifts per week between 8am and 8pm alternate weekends.
Richmond Village in Aston on Trent is looking to appoint a Head Chef. Our kitchen is a demanding environment that caters specifically to the unique needs of a care home, alongside a high-end restaurant, a bustling café bar and a Clubhouse café.
This position offers a chance to make a meaningful impact on residents' lives through the universal language of delicious food, all within the comfort of a refined and serene environment. A good knowledge of diverse dietary requirements is a must and a knowledge of the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI), is advantageous.
Passionate about food, you'll bring experience working in high-volume, multi-service, and quality kitchens. With expertise in diverse cuisines and cooking techniques, you possess a comprehensive understanding of the catering industry, particularly within a high end care setting and are motivated to train our kitchen team whilst being hands on in the service delivery.
Our ideal candidate should be skilled in adapting menus to meet the specific needs and preferences of our residents, ensuring every meal is both nutritious and enjoyable.
This luxury retirement village is a unique blend of culinary skill and lifestyle balance. Hours are very sociable for a hospitality environment, with earliest starts usually at 8am and latest finishes around 8pm, with one late night a month (9pm). With no split shifts, you will enjoy a harmonious work-life rhythm while showcasing your talents across various dining settings.
What your typical day involves:
- Catering to residents, visitors, and the public across the village, which includes an 80-cover table d'hôtel Restaurant, a 40-cover Bistro/Café bar, a 40-cover Club House Café, and three Care Home dining rooms serving up to 61 residents.
- Providing excellent hands on leadership to train and develop our kitchen team to consistently deliver high-quality dishes.
- Adapting and creating innovative menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and current food trends, led by our principle menu cycle and in response to residents' and customers' diverse dietary needs and preferences.
- Working within the extensive HACCP framework tailored to a Health Care Environment.
- Managing all food-related responsibilities in the kitchen, including budgeting, ordering, checking, storage, preparation, and disposal of waste food.
- Collaborating with other department heads and function organisers for special events.
- Consistently delivering a high standard of food and service while working within a fixed budget.
Who we're looking for: Ideally, you'll have an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent City & Guilds award. With an organized and innovative approach to your work, you'll lead by example to create and deliver an excellent dining experience.
