Clearabee is the UK’s largest on-demand clearance company, employing 350 people across the UK and Ireland. We operate 175 vans and multiple Materials Recycling Facilities. We offset 100% of our scope 1 and scope 2 emissions, making us one of the greenest waste companies in the UK.
We’re looking for hardworking and enthusiastic individuals to join our truck teams collecting waste from homes and businesses, as part of our ‘man and van’ style clearance service.
The role is varied and will include driving of 3.5t vehicles as well as loading and labouring.
The job requires driving locally and nationally and a fair amount of your time will be spent driving the van or navigating. When you get to jobs, you will normally load the waste into the vehicle by yourself or as part of a two-person team. Whilst there can be physical moments, you don’t need to be especially fit to handle this job and it is more about providing high quality customer care.
You’ll be responsible for delivering top level customer service at customer sites which may include quoting of jobs and providing accurate information back to our office-based teams.
In return, we offer a permanent and full-time contract with 35 minimum hours guarantee and company benefits including a pension scheme and access to 25% of your wages on demand as you earn it.
Types of Jobs
The jobs you will be sent to can be very varied and you will often be working solo, however, may also work in a two-person team depending on the jobs which have been allocated to your vehicle, such as furniture collections. Many of our jobs do require manual labour and loading, so you must enjoy some physical work and tackling challenging jobs, although most jobs are not physically demanding at all.
Jobs can include relatively clean and easy collections such as removing bulky furniture to more messy collections including manually emptying bins which have been overfilled or collecting fly-tipped waste. We also collect skip bags which are used only for containment and can be filled with bulky waste or loose construction waste.
Days & Hours
We provide minimum hours guarantee but you will normally exceed this, and you should expect to work between 40 and 50 hours per week including breaks. We are not able to guarantee start, or finish times and jobs will constantly come in whilst you are out working, and finish times may be put back.
You will normally work 5 days per week which will include at least one in two Saturdays on rotation. When working a Saturday, you will have the option to agree a day of in the week in lieu.
Reliability is very important and bonus payments are dependent on full attendance. This job will not suit unreliable people.
Technology
You must be capable of using our secure apps on your mobile with a data contract. You will not be able to work for us without this.
Driving Licence & Criminal Records
You must be confident driving a 3.5t Luton style van with a licence with 6 or less points. We will undertake a DBS check and any criminal record should be reported to us as part of your application. We do undertake random drug and alcohol tests.
Van Parking
We provide a work van which you will use only for work purposes. This van will be taken home by you or your work partner (if applicable) or parked in a secure location agreed with us. This means you will not normally have any commuting expenses or commuting time.
Advance Pay
Through our HR app we make available up to 25% of your earnings as you earn it. This is subject to your status with us and is a perk we may choose to withdraw at any time and is not contractual.
KEY TERMS:
Hourly rate: £11 per hour which includes a bonus payment
Pay frequency: Monthly pay with advance pay available to most staff
Holiday: 28 days
Working hours: between 06:00 and 20:00 typically (various shifts, often around 8-12 hours per day)
Weekly hours guarantee: 35 hours per week but expect to do more than this
Days: 5 days per week including regular Saturday work on a rotational basis (1 on and 1 off) with a minimum of 35 hours per week guaranteed.
Pension: Employer contribution of 5% unless opted out
