The Position
The Regional Coach and Scout will support in the delivery of the Tier 1 EPP programme and be responsible for the alignment of EPP programmes across Tier 2 county partners. They will also support in the creation of a robust talent identification and scouting process.
We are seeking an individual with a passion for talent development who can add value to multiple environments and have a positive impact on those around them. This role will suit those with an interest in creating and supporting positive learning environments for young players to thrive. The ability to influence, communicate effectively, work independently and as part of a team with a passion for continuous learning are priorities for the role.
This role will report to the Head of Talent Pathway. Due to the nature of the role your ‘base’ will be the County Ground Beckenham. However, significant periods will be spent in other Kent and Surrey locations to cover pathway programmes. The post holder will be expected to work evenings, weekends and possibly Bank Holidays. This role will also require regular travel throughout the U.K during the Cricket season.
- Support on the delivery of high-level coaching programmes across Kent and Surrey EPP winter programmes
- Work alongside the Surrey and Kent pathway leads to plan sessions that ensure development of EPP players
- Contribute to the development and completion of individual development programmes (IDPs) by providing tailored feedback
- Actively engage with pathway leads across the Talent Pathway Catchment Area (TPCA) to identify high potential talented players
- Engage in consistent scouting and identification of talented players throughout the winter training programme and summer match play programme to ensure players are appropriately identified to transition onto EPP and Surrey Academy programmes
- Take on a scouting role as part of the Surrey CCC talent identification & recruitment strategy and provide information to the Head of Talent Pathway to aid in selection decisions and to the ECB for talent identification purposes
- Assist with programme review and evaluation processes ensuring alignment with Talent Pathway objectives
- Provide match day support across EPP fixtures
- Utilise appropriate technology to support player development (CoachNow)
- Ensure a safe and inclusive environment, adhering to the safeguarding and welfare policies of Surrey CCC
- Adhere to code of conduct, safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Keep up to date with best practice and expertise across the fields of talent development and attend ECB CPD events and meetings to support the drive for a world leading player pathway
- Ensure effective communication with other Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 pathway staff
- Assist our Head of Talent Pathway with managing our ECB pathway audits

The Person
The successful candidate will have the following experience / skills / qualities:
Essential:
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Demonstrable interest and experience in the areas of talent identification and development
- Experience of developing individualised player development plans (IDP’s)
- Qualified to at least ECB Level 2 (Foundation II Coach), with ability to achieve ECB Level 3 (Advanced) within 12 months of appointment
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and Safeguarding Children certification – a DBS disclosure is an impartial and confidential document that details an individual’s criminal record and where appropriate gives details of those who are barred from working with children
- High standards of personal and professional integrity
- An appetite for continuous learning and development
- High levels of energy and enthusiasm
- The ability to use initiative working as part of a team or independently as required
- Honesty, tact and strong will to succeed
- Excellent IT skills with competent ability using Microsoft Office programmes
- Full UK Driving Licence and ability to travel independently to various venues across the region
Desirable:
- A degree in Sports Science, Coaching or a relevant field
- Knowledge of the ECB Talent Development Framework “Unleashing Potential” and/or alternative NGB frameworks
- An understanding and experience of best practice talent identification and selection processes
- An understanding and experience of Coach Development
- Experience of and skills to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders
- Up to date first aid qualification
